Rebuilding the Desolate Places

Both of these paintings are based on tiny but highly detailed engravings done in the 1800’s.  I’ve expanded the image, added color and a small amount of imagination for a renovation.  At the time that these images were recorded, the  homes were still nicely plastered on the inside, but the exteriors were left in disrepair.  The long poles used for ladders correspond to the sailboat masts from other images.  It appears that these mesas could have been islands at one time, check google earth and you’ll see what I mean.
